A continuing dialogue between Church and Artists
The catalogue "Lo splendore della veritá , la bellezza della caritá. Artists pay homage to Benedict XVI for the 60th anniversary of his ordination to the priesthood", will be presented on 18 February, which documents the exhibition on show in the Vatican from 5 July to 4 September 2011. The speakers will be Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, President of the Pontifical Council for Culture, Fr Giuseppe Costa, Director of the Vatican Publishing House, Antonio Paolucci, Director of the Vatican Museums.
Later, four well-known personalities, representatives of various artistic fields introduced by Dr. Micol Forti - Head of the Department of Contemporary Art of the Vatican Museums - will talk about the new season of dialogue that is developing between the Church and the Artists. Speakers include Arvo Pärt - Musician and composer, Santiago Calatrava - Architect, Jannis Kounellis - Sculptor, Vincenzo Cerami - Author and screenwriter.
A solemn Mass celebrated by His Eminence Cardinal Gianfranco Ravasi, will follow at 18, in the adjoining Basilica of St. Maria sopra Minerva, to remember the "Beato Angelico", patron of artists.
Carlo Nangeroni, who participated in the exhibition "Lo Splendore della Verità la Bellezza della Carità" with the painting "La Bellezza e il valore della Carità", and attended the art school "Beato Angelico" in Milan, will attend the event.
